Training Facilitation Skills

Description

Too often, trainers feel they have to be the all-knowing expert, transmitting knowledge to passive listeners, or entertainers, frantically trying to hold their audience’s attention. However, research shows that people generally learn better when facilitators stop lecturing and actively involve learners in discussion, activities and guided reflection.

Sonata Learning’s training facilitation skills workshop will help your team create a participatory training environment where learners feel empowered to experiment and discover new ideas for themselves. In this model, lectures and “do as I do” demos are used sparingly to introduce fundamentals, beyond which the focus is on group interaction, critical thinking and hands-on skills practice.

This workshop can be delivered in a single day, covering general facilitation skills, or as a multi-day session where participants can practice delivering actual lessons from your organization’s training curricula.

To ensure that all workshop attendees get a chance to practice their facilitation skills and receive feedback from the master trainer, enrollment is limited to 12 participants per facilitator.
